About This Course
The course introduces the requirements of the ASME B31.8 – Gas Transmission and Distribution Piping Systems Code. It covers the scope of B31.8, including its history, the types of systems to which it applies, its organization, and the intended use of the Codebook. It also introduces requirements for pipeline materials and equipment, welding, and design, installation and testing of pipeline systems. Other topics include procedures for pipeline operation and maintenance, corrosion control, and requirements for offshore gas transmission and sour gas service.
Learning Objectives

Identify the most commonly used Codes and Standards applicable to the inspection, repair, and alteration of existing pressure equipment.
Identify detailed requirements of the NBIC.
Explain the differences between the NBIC and API-510
Describe the latest developments in the rapidly advancing field of pressure equipment inspection and repairs.
Explain the responsibilities of the users, manufacturers, repair organizations, jurisdictional regulatory agencies, and inspectors.
Explain how to obtain a National Board Certificate of Authorization and stamp
Identify and provide examples of repairs, alterations, and the documentation requirements for each.
Provide examples demonstrating the application of the rules.
